Bedford Township Trustee

Township work, public records, and resources for Bedford residents.

Serving on the Township Board.

I began serving as a Bedford Township Trustee in December 2024.

Trustees participate in board decisions and deliberations, share responsibility for township funds, and serve on local boards or committees. The official township website describes these responsibilities and lists the current board members.

Work you can follow.

What I have proposed, where the board has acted, and the records you can read for yourself.

01 · Accountability

Your right to speak up.

Public officials answer to the public. I drafted the public-comment policy that expressly protects political criticism of Township Board members, including me, for our conduct, decisions, and actions inside or outside meetings.

The board adopted my proposed changes to Section 2.26 on October 7, 2025, by a 5–2 vote. The policy also sets speaking times and rules for orderly meetings.

02 · Transparency

Bring public decisions into view.

I pushed for Downtown Development Authority meetings to be recorded. Residents should be able to follow decisions involving public money even when they cannot attend in person.

The DDA's February 13, 2025 minutes describe moving meetings into the board room for live video and YouTube recordings. I followed up on that effort at the February 18 Township Board meeting. Recordings are now available on the township’s YouTube channel.

03 · Protecting taxpayers

Data centers on our terms.

I initiated the push for a data-center moratorium so Bedford could develop its rules before considering projects. On February 3, 2026, I made the motion to adopt the limited moratorium ordinance. The motion carried. The ordinance provided for a pause of up to one year from its effective date, ending sooner if a zoning amendment addressing data centers took effect.

I also called for refusing nondisclosure agreements and local tax incentives for data-center projects. That is my position; the minutes linked here document adoption of the moratorium, not separate approval of those two proposals.

04 · Public safety

Learning the work before voting on it.

I spent 12 hours on a ride-along with the Bedford Township Fire Department to better understand the department firsthand. I joined as a trustee learning about its work, not as a firefighter.

On February 3, 2026, I seconded the motion approving a feasibility study for all three fire stations: $42,000, plus up to $1,000 for mileage. The motion carried. The study gives the township a basis for evaluating its facilities.
